OUR SERVICES

Respite Care
Allows you time to regain your health following a medical incident or when you have been unwell.Perhaps your spouse needs time out to regain their strength. We are able to offer Respite Care to people both Under and Over 65 years of age.

Palliative Care
We provide End-of-Life care and Palliative Care, we use the End-of-Life Care Plan, so as your condition changes we will be able to continue to care for you with support from Nurse Maude Palliative Service without having to send you into Christchurch for end -of-life care.

Day Care
Offered Monday - Friday take part in all our activities and trips out and Movement 2 Music exercise classes.

Long Term Care
Care is available to anyone Under or Over 65 years of age.

Gerontology Care
Sue our RN attended the NZ Gerontology Conference in 2016, NZACA Conference 2017, and also attends any education sessions pertaining to her scope of practice.

Wound Care, Diabetic Care, Infection Control, Stroke Rehabilitation, Stomal Therapist, Continence Advisor.

AGED CARE ACTIVITIES
A wide variety of activities taking into account the various abilities, and preferences of our residents. This includes individual and group activities, music, singing, cards, trips out, beauty treatments, etc. Other activities are planned for each day taking into account each residents choices. A monthly programme is made up in advance, giving residents the freedom to choose what interests them - a snooze in the sun, a walk around the township, or a visit to the cafes, shops or library.
FEATURES

Activities
A wide range of activities are planned taking into account the residents likes and dislikes, physical and mental exercises, outings, visits as well as entertainment for all to enjoy every afternoon Monday to Friday. Singing and music is also provided.

Physiotherapist
A Physiotherapist is in Cheviot 2 days a week - Lyn travels up from Amberley and has rooms at the Cheviot Community Health Centre. She is happy to make calls to our home or we will take residents up to her rooms.

Hairdresser
2 staff members are able to cut and set hair or Should you wish to use the hair salon in the shopping centre arrangements can be made with transport. A visiting hair dresser is also available.

Podiatrist
This service has recently been established in Cheviot every 8 weeks. Arrangements can be made for a visit should you require this at your expense other wise the RN will cut nails.

Dietitian
Staff note and listen to residents - likes and dislikes, we grow a lot of our own vegetables,have our own sheep grazing and fattening, great community support with fresh fruit and veges, fresh fish donated otherwise we purchase fresh every week.

Movement 2 Music
This is held 5 mornings a week Monday to Friday to help support and strenghten muscles, improve balance and walking as well as to help reduce falls, while having fun and laughs together.

Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor
A church service is held by the Anglican church for the elderly once a week - they also collect any residents who wish to attend and we arrange for a church service to be held once every second month at our rest home for those who wish to attend. We also celebrate a Christmas and Easter Service.

Outings
Gore Bay for picnics at the seaside, many interesting drives around the countryside close to home. Fish and chips at Kaikoura, lunch at Oaro watching the dolphins, afternoon tea at St Annes lagoon close to Cheviot or lunch in Cheviot Hills Domain.

Audit report available
Our recent Spot Audit was carried out in March 2018 with no issues found at all. This was due to wonderful, caring staff who have out standing skills, have a very caring attitude and are always willing to learn new skills through continuing education.
